Love these shorts, pretty bummed at how easily the drawstring came out in the wash and it being impossible to get back in. Reached out to customer service for any tips and the response was a bit condescending.

BUY THEM. This is a slam dunk comfy, stylish, and special purchase. I'm curvy hips (and unfortunately large rump) and typically wear a medium or large in bottoms. I read reviews and decided to size up. XL is exactly where it's at for me. The material is stretchy, wrinkle free, comfy and soft, and not a bit scratchy. They are major comfortable but also can be dressed up and look like you tried a little :) I'm mainly writing this review to beg Kavu to make a long pants version of this. Seriously.

Alright update on the drawstring threading issue. Kavu, the videos you send your customers was not enough. In fact, they weren’t actually helpfully for the shorts that you’ve specificially designed. I’ve had to re-thread multiple pairs of shorts, pants, sweatpants. This was not a simple re-threading. Inside the waistband there are two layers. I’m guessing it’s to create cushion so we don’t feel straight up drawstring. What Kavu has not been informing us of is that we have to thread in between the layers, right through the middle in order to get the drawstring alllll the way in. The way I found out? I had to CUT MY SHORTS OPEN because none of the help Kavu offered was actually helpful to the shorts they specifically designed. The only, and I mean ONLY, redeeming aspect is that the print is cute and I’m a sucker for wildflowers. But you know what?! Other companies make that too so -10 for Kavu. So thank you Kavu design team for creating a product that costs $65 + tax only for me to have to cut them open so I can maybe wear them again. And not recommend them to other friends.

Recently went on a river trip and needed some new shorts. My old Patagonia ones were getting pretty bad. I found these in a local shop and immediately bought them. The fit? Perfect. The quick drying aspect? Amazing. The fact that the waist string thingies come out the second you wash them? Horrible. This was definitely a design flaw for Kavu. I am having the WORST time trying to get the waist string to thread back into the waist band. It’s almost like there is a piece of fabric or something that I can’t get past thus I can’t tie off my shorts to make them more secure. If you’re getting these, make sure to tie the waist string together. Freaking double barrel knot that shit. They come out and you’ll be so annoyed you’ll want to leave them in the back of drawer for them to never see the light of day again.

These are the most comfortable shorts I have ever had in my whole life! By far! And I’m 66 years old and grew up in Southern California. So that’s really saying something. I love the fit and the quick dry fabric holds its shape beautifully. I’ve worn them hiking in the wilderness, walking the dogs around town and with a nice blouse to work. I’ve gotten many compliments but best of all, I love them. Also, the color goes with so many things - it’s fantastic! I highly recommend these shorts.

I would agree with other reviews that these shorts were my favorite until the drawstring came out the second time that I washed them. In spite of being able to rethread drawstrings on multiple other items of clothing, this drawstring is impossible to get back in. I’m very sad that I spent so much money on a pair of shorts that I could only wear twice because of a design flaw.

I would've loved these shorts except they're priced so high and once the drawstring comes out it's impossible to get it back in. Devastating!!

Love your shorts, they fit so well, look great on

These are quite nearly the best shorts I’ve ever owned, but I have two pairs and believe me when I tell you that when the drawstring comes out, you will NEVER EVER get it back in. The shorts are sewed in a way that makes it nearly impossible to thread it back through. Getting drawstrings back in shorts/sweatshirts is never easy but on these, it’s ridiculously impossible.

Love these shorts but I recently washed them and the drawstring came out. Normally I would just put it back in but there’s something off where the elastic band starts and I can’t get the string around the back area of the shorts. Sad because I love these and would love the fix that

Love these shorts! Quick dry fabric is great for putzing about in the garden and paddling on the river, style looks great for casual wear around town.

Cute, comfortable, and quick-drying. I wear them backpacking, rafting, shopping, to lunch with friends, and to the beach; they dress up or down and always look the part. The perfect pair of shorts as far as I'm concerned. I may have to go back and buy them in more colors. Size-ing seems normal, but if you're in between I would go up a size.

I love the fit of these shorts! The material is great, they can be dressed up or down, and are so comfortable to wear anywhere, all day.

5'1 120 pounds... got the small and they fit like a dream.! I love kayaking in these and braving the arizona heat ! Would buy more colors if avaliable.

These shorts are ultra comfortable and I love the material. Pockets are just deep enough and the back pocket will hold my phone. Thank you for putting USABLE pockets in women's shorts.

I went a size up because I have big thighs and butt, and even still these are a little snug and ride up in the crotch area. Keeping because the pattern is awesome and fabric is nice, but the fit is a little off for my very curvy lower half.

Please add zippers to the two front pockets! These are amazing, that’s all I puke change.

I love these shorts! This is my second pair and I’d buy every color if I could! Enough coverage to avoid scandal but super silky and quick drying.

These are so cute...if you're of a certain body type. If you're a little bit thicker around the thighs or midsection they're extremely short/uncomfortable. I'd love to see these fun patterns (especially Greenhouse) on the Chilliwack or River Short!

I like the print and the fabric but the short are too tight around my thighs. I have more muscular thighs and the shorts like to ride up. I am not a big fan of the pleats on the front. I expected more of a baggy looks with these.

Best Shorts for traveling!!!! I recently bought these shorts in Black and in Hot Tropic for a 3 week trip to Europe. These shorts were light-weight and quick drying, which was great since it was in the mid-80's. I loved having both pairs since the Hot Tropic print is fun and the black is great as a basic short. I would buy these shorts in more colors if Kavu made them. :-)
